Three years ago, on 6th April 2009, when I left home the night of the earthquake, I thought it would be for just a few hours. I had not realized that my hometown had disappeared.
Each of the keys that hang from the barrier once opened a door to somebody's home.

That is a touching illustration. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteIt's seems incredible that this can happen to anyone but you have been brave and I hope that you will be able to return one day.
ReplyDeleteI can feel your pain. The drawing gives me chills. This should be a sculpture Barbara. Making art heals. In that respect, we artists are all so fortunate.
ReplyDeleteOh Barbara! I don't know what to say except I have tears. I feel sorrow and pain even if it did not happen to me. I have lost homes and I know that feeling of looking back and it is gone. I am so sorry. I hope drawing this helps you heal. Some people think that we should forget events like this, I don't they are a poignant reminder of the fragility of life and therefore inspire us to embrace it everyday. Have a Blessed Easter. This should have been IF's choice, in my opinion.
